Corporate History
As often in life it was a coincidence that inspired Gerhard
Hunkemöller in 1954 to develop a water-based floor sealant.
He immediately recognized a gap in the market and founded
the COELIT-SOCIETY, which was concerned with the production
and distribution of floor impregnations from then on. Plastic
coatings and repair mortars gradually extended the product
range.
His son Paul Hunkemöller took over the company in 1963.
These days were also the establishment of the ongoing co-operation
with the BAYER AG as supplier for polyurethane raw materials,
which still represents the basis for many of our high quality
products.
The PU-foam processing became the main operating field of
the company, so that it expanded to one of the most important
processing plants for PU-foam in Germany. Changed market conditions,
in particular the FCKW discussion, led 1987 to the decision
to stop the PU-foam processing gradually. This was the birth
of the different COELAN® societies. more...

The Paul Pietzschke company was founded by its namesake in
1889 at Hamburg, Northern Germany. From the very beginning
this chemical and technical company has endeavoured to produced
and market a line of high quality elastic sealants, coatings
and lubricants for the ever growing global commercial marine
market.
The Pietzschke line of products quickly established themselves
by meeting the rigorous demands of the commercial ship building
industry. As a result Pietzschke Supra Marine Glue soon became
the default standard for the caulking of wooden deck joints.
In addition the Pietzschke line of Launching Grease Products
soon became known for their consistently reliable performance.
These products are regularly ordered by numerous shipyards
in Germany and abroad for the launchings of ships as well
as the moving and re-location of large hull sections during
the fabrication process.
Approximately forty years ago the company developed one
of the first fully synthetic sealants for the yacht and shipbuilding
industry. These became known as WKT Synthetic Sealing Compounds
and even today they continue to set the standard for extraordinary
elasticity and extreme durability. WKT has stood the test
of time on a great number of ships including those of various
European Navies and many well known cruise liners built by
the Meyer Shipyard in Papenburg. Renowned vessels such as
Aurora, Oriana, Radiance of the Seas, Super Star Virgo, and
Norwegian Dawn are only a partial list of today’s ships
using the Pietzschke line of marine products. more..
